If you’ve peeked around my blog at all, you’ll discover two important things: 1) I’m a mom who’s been in the trenches, and 2) I totally believe becoming a work-at-home mom has saved my sanity.
For. Real.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a mom of two boys (ages 6 and 3). My oldest son has special needs and keeps our whole family in a constant state of exhaustion and adventure. If you’re a parent of a special needs child, you understand!
#solidarity 😉
Almost two years ago, I found myself burnt out to the nth degree. I’m talking knockdown, drag-out, winter bear tired. (<— If you get that reference, you’re my new BFF.) I’m talking emotionally and physically depleted.
I had NOTHING left but fake smiles, love, and faith.
Then I found an online school called Proofread Anywhere ran by someone wanting to teach people how to proofread for court reporters. (For a little more detail on just how I started my journey to Proofread Anywhere, read this post.)
My journey into the work-at-home world started with a lot of doubt and skepticism. I really didn’t believe anyone could really earn a full-time income from home without spending a ridiculous amount of time filling out silly surveys and performing menial tasks for pennies.
Nope.
When I first discovered Proofread Anywhere through MoneySavingMom.com, I was intrigued, but highly skeptical. After taking the free intro course to find out more about what PA was all about (and hounding Caitlin Pyle with lengthy emails expressing my skepticism!), I decided to give it a shot.
That decision has forever changed my life.
Okay, that might sound a little dramatic, but it’s true. I worked as a proofreader for about a year, earning extra money for my family and enjoying something that was just for me. I met SO many amazing people within the Proofread Anywhere community. It was an absolute joy!
During that time, I decided to take up transcription as well. Doing this helped me not only increase my reach by offering more services to my clients, but it also increased my income substantially! I was having SO much fun trying new things and learning new skills.
For the first time in a long time, I felt a sense of accomplishment — something I never knew I needed.
It wasn’t long until I felt a pull to learn even more skills to add to my work-at-home arsenal. After an exciting meeting with Caitlin, she invited me to come work for her doing virtual assisting. I had NO idea what that really was, but I was all for learning something new! So I packed up my proofreading and transcription skills and took them with me into the world of virtual assisting.
Mind. Blown.
I very quickly realized that virtual assisting was by far my favorite way to earn a living from home. VA work involves anything and everything (proofreading, content writing, graphic design, email management, and so, so much more!).
My work at Proofread Anywhere continued to bear so much fruit, giving me amazing opportunities to learn in-demand skills while working for a highly successful entrepreneur. THIS was a priceless opportunity that I will forever be thankful for. It seriously changed my life.
The summer following my start in VA work, I had the pleasure of taking on my second VA client proofreading and editing an eBook for her. I was introduced to her professionally while working as the office manager for Proofread Anywhere, but I had been a HUGE fan of her and her blog for about 5 years.
Game changer #2!
Almost a year later, two years after this journey started, my seemingly small work for her snowballed into a full-time job as her project manager — my absolute dream job!
And it all started with learning one new skill.
I now work as a full-time professional project manager helping bloggers and digital marketers manage their projects, streamline their productivity, and increase their revenue — and I do it all from home with my family by my side.
Building one new skill upon another has helped me create a work-at-home career that supports my family of four, allowed us to purchase our very first home, provided a way for my husband to leave a job he absolutely hated, and has given us the blessing of being able offer more of our time to both of our sons.
And after spending the last few years sitting at the feet of some of the most talented and successful people in the industry, I want to bring you along with me in my mission to build skills that pay the bills!
(Ha! Excuse my silliness.)
As we speak, I’m currently in production of a one-of-a-kind full-length training program designed to teach aspiring work-at-homers how to become a successful project manager (or virtual assistant) for professional bloggers and digital marketers.
But I’m opening up Module 1 for enrollment now!
I’m so excited to finally be able to teach others how to earn a living from home helping bloggers, digital marketers, and other online entrepreneurs to increase their revenue by streamlining their workflow and increasing their productivity — saving their sanity in the process!
The truth is, running an online blogging or digital marketing business is NO JOKE. It requires hours and hours of tireless work from business owners in order to bring in steady streams of incomes — and they need help … YOUR help.
I have had the blessing of working for some incredibly talented bloggers and digital marketers who have built amazingly successful businesses — including Crystal Paine (MoneySavingMom.com) and Caitlin Pyle (Proofread Anywhere and The Work-At-Home School) — learning SO much along the way.
And I want to share it all with you!
In The Freelancer’s Introduction to Working for Bloggers, I break down the blogging industry, giving you an in-depth look at what it takes for bloggers and other digital marketers to run a professional online business, so you can decide for yourself if this niche is right for you.
Disclaimer: Please know that earning a real living from home takes real work. There are a LOT of scams out there that promise the moon for very little effort — all the while sucking all of your time and making someone else rich.
Uh, no thanks!
I’ve tried a lot of ways to earn money while being able to care for my kiddos at home. A lot of them were just not worth the time and work involved OR they required inventory space I simply didn’t have.
I don’t want that for you, which is why I strive to share opportunities with you that I know for a fact are legitimate, career-building options for moms (and dads!) who are looking to build a real income from home while being close to their families.
Because who has time to wade through all of those scams? Right?!
Ready to build some real skills? Come on over and enroll now to find out if this is the niche for you!
